About the role
This position oversees the overall quality management system and lean management systems, including continuous development, improvement, and maturity, while supporting the forward vision and business objectives of the segment. The role supports 40+ plant locations with a dotted-line reporting structure and works under the general direction of the Regional VPs.
Location: Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, GA at one of our local packaging plants.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall quality management systems of the business segments and their impact on business and customers.
- Oversee the continuous improvement program for the business segment through standardized practices, training, meeting improvement objectives, and maturing systems and capabilities.
- Assist plant locations in maintaining compliance with the quality management system to ISO9001 requirements and sustaining certification status.
- Assist with quality and continuous improvement training for plant quality managers/coordinators as turnover occurs.
- Drive standardization into quality management and lean management systems, ensuring best and consistent practices.
- Assist with new methodologies and technologies impacting quality and improvements (e.g., software and SCADA systems).
- Support onboarding of new and strategic customers within PPAP processes.
- Provide training and training materials for the continuous improvement program and initiatives.
- Serve as coach and mentor for improvement projects.
- Host regional continuous improvement progress meetings with each region to support progress and best practices.
- Take initiative in developing next steps and objectives to evolve and mature system effectiveness and provide necessary training.
- Provide high-level analysis from data/metrics on system effectiveness and make recommendations or take action for improvement.
Requirements
- CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) certification preferred or equivalent discipline body of knowledge.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a quality manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of ISO9001 QMS systems; preferred understanding of IATF 16949 (formerly TS) and AIAG practices.
- Working knowledge of quality science applications.
- High-level understanding of lean concepts and applications.
- Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access. Must be proficient with charts and statistical formulas/templates in Excel.
- Manager-level leadership knowledge/experience.
