About the role

We are seeking a Quality Automation Engineer to help modernize Quality Engineering across the Fox News Media Engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define automation strategy and design, build, and maintain scalable frameworks for web, mobile, API, and end-to-end testing across Fox News Media digital products.
  • Expand automated regression coverage while continuously improving execution speed, reliability, maintainability, and overall test effectiveness.
  • Partner with Engineering to integrate automated testing, quality gates, release validation, and quality metrics into CI/CD pipelines, enabling rapid feedback and confident software delivery.
  • Develop reusable automation tools and utilities that improve testing efficiency and streamline regression testing, test data management, quality reporting, defect triage, release readiness, deployment validation, and production verification.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering during feature planning and development to improve requirements, acceptance criteria, application testability, observability, shift-left practices, and overall product quality.
  • Perform targeted exploratory and manual testing where human judgment provides the greatest value, particularly for new functionality, editorial workflows, user experience, accessibility, and high-risk releases.
  • Review application architecture, source code, pull requests, APIs, logs, and deployment changes to proactively identify quality risks and strengthen automation strategies.
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate automation development, test generation, defect analysis, documentation, and quality reporting.
  • Maintain test coverage and test case hygiene in test management systems, including prioritization, traceability, lifecycle status, and automation mapping.
  • Create quality metrics and dashboards that provide visibility into automation coverage, release health, defect trends, escaped defects, and overall engineering quality.
  • Support production deployments by validating critical user journeys, monitoring application health, analyzing production issues, and partnering with engineering teams to rapidly identify and resolve customer-impacting defects.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Quality Engineering supporting modern web, mobile, API, and connected TV (CTV) applications.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automation frameworks using Playwright, Appium, Selenium, Cypress, or comparable technologies.
  • Strong programming skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar languages used for automation development.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or comparable platforms.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including source control, branching strategies, release management, and continuous integration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk-based testing, quality strategy, defect triage, release readiness, and production validation.
  • Ability to analyze frontend and backend code, API responses, logs, and network traffic to identify quality risks and improve test effectiveness.
  • Experience using Chrome DevTools and proxy tools such as Charles Proxy or mitmproxy for frontend debugging, network inspection, and validation.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies to accelerate automation development, code analysis, documentation, and testing workflows.
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) concepts and AI agent integrations for engineering workflows.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, containerized environments, and modern application architectures.
  • Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, analytics, and production health metrics as they relate to software quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across Engineering, Product, DevOps, and Technical Program Management teams.

Qualifications

  • A regular, on-site attendance at the workplace a minimum of 3 days per week is an essential function of the position.

Skills

  • Experience working in digital media, news, streaming, or other high-scale consumer technology environments.
  • Experience testing CMS platforms, video playback, advertising technology, authentication systems, analytics implementations, or personalization platforms.
  • Experience implementing AI-driven testing strategies, autonomous test generation, or intelligent Quality Engineering workflows.
  • Experience with accessibility, performance, security, or resiliency testing.
  • Experience with Nuxt, Vue, Prisma, or comparable frontend and backend technologies.
  • Experience helping engineering organizations mature Quality Engineering practices through automation, tooling, and process improvements.
