About the role

The Quality Assurance/Trainer is responsible for providing quality assurance, technical support, and ongoing training for the Family and Children’s Medicaid Unit. This position ensures compliance with state and federal policy, supports staff development, and maintains high standards of accuracy and timely case processing. The position reports to the Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed audits and second-party reviews of applications, recertifications, and case changes completed within the Family and Children’s Medicaid Unit.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to communicate trends, identify areas for improvement, and recommend training or corrective action.
  • Assist in preparing for state audits and compiling required documentation for auditors/monitors.
  • Develop, update, and deliver training materials for new hires and current staff. Provide new hire and refresher training for staff.
  • Complete second-party reviews at 100% for new hire/probationary staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and agency policy changes across all Economic Services programs.
  • Offer guidance to staff on program policies, regulations, and NCFAST procedures and assist with casework as needed.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the income maintenance program assigned.
  • Knowledge of agency and community services that impact clients/applicants.
  • General knowledge of all income maintenance programs.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize work independently and within structured timeframes.
  • Ability to instruct staff on rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand client/applicant needs and challenges.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker with Family and Children’s Medicaid applications and recertifications; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Requirements

  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Pay

$22.38 - $26.85 per hour
