Overview
Quality Assurance Technicians perform standardized tests to ensure the product complies with company, customer, and government specifications and requirements by performing assigned duties. The goal is to support the QA department in ensuring that all quality and Food Safety & Food Quality-related programs and procedures are met.
What You'll Do
- Maintains production lines to ensure the product is within specification and all critical control points and critical quality points are met. If deviation occurs, a corrective action must be taken.
- Checks all product codes prior to production, during production, and after any code change.
- Verifies all scales prior to startup with certified weights and records data.
- Performs sifter tailing inspections daily and escalates findings.
- Aids in leading a product sensory review twice a shift with production for currently running products.
- Reviews daily lab paperwork and reports any deviations.
- Gathers and organizes daily production paperwork for review.
- Aids in daily review of packaging activity papers for holds and quality disposition.
- Completes all sample requests.
- Prepares first production samples for review. Verifies labels for lot code dates and allergens.
- Ability and willingness to learn and troubleshoot lab equipment/instruments.
- Performs all sanitation, food safety, and food quality inspections prior to startup of each production day.
- Assists in production when there are quality issues. Helps lead root cause investigations.
- Collects and retains samples of daily production and stores them for future reference.
- Verifies metal detectors and checkweighers daily.
- Aids in inspecting line equipment before start-up and after cleaning/maintenance.
- Completes appropriate forms and tags.
- Aids R&D with new production sampling and sing.
- Responsible for logging correct and accurate data for all sing done on production runs.
- Prints and passes out quality production paperwork when QA Technician 2 is unavailable.
- Proficient with computers and has the ability to use Microsoft Office and enter data into software such as DeaCom.
- Maintains and files all records according to company policy.
- Works with management to ensure accurate information is being documented in the production of the products and assists with Food Safety and Quality-related issues.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures on safety, GMPs, and SQF.
- Refer to Standard Operating Procedures for guidelines and specific procedures on how to perform tasks.
- Ability to maintain open communication via 2 way radios with production and other quality personnel.
- Other duties as needed & assigned by the QA Supervisor and/or QA Manager.

- Must be able to speak and read English.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions with little direction.
- Must have computer skills.
- Carry out “Good Manufacturing Practices” to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
