About the role

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the everyday supervision of the Quality Assurance Department. This position requires oversight and direction of departmental employees, facilitation of work schedules, expense control, monitoring of flour quality, and support in implementing quality systems certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Keep Q.A. Manager informed of departmental operations.
  • Supervise and direct departmental employees.
  • Supervise the application of work instructions, specifications, etc.
  • Facilitate the work schedule of the department and control overtime.
  • Aid in maintaining Q.A. laboratory installations.
  • Aid in controlling expenses to ensure a balanced budget.
  • Maintain oversight of flour quality throughout different stages.
  • Direct Q.A. SAP computer applications.
  • Verify Q.A. equipment functionality and calibration.
  • Work with other Azteca departments affecting product/service quality.
  • Oversee and maintain direct training of employees.
  • Help in the implementation of Quality systems Certifications.
  • Promote and implement Gruma Corporation World Quality Program.
  • Perform food safety audits.
  • In conjunction with manager, determine the status of final product.
  • Perform external-audit testing.
  • Verify HACCP controls.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemical, Engineering, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Food/Beverage manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in a manufacturing environment required.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English & Spanish required.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and food safety standards.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
