About the Role

White Castle is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to assist and support the Quality Manager at the WCD Vandalia Plant. This role ensures raw materials and finished products meet White Castle USDA and FDA specifications while maintaining and improving the Quality Control Program. The incumbent will provide guidance, direction, and training to Team Members on quality, food safety, HACCP, Food Defense, SQF, and GMP requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Selection, supervision, training, and guidance of Quality Team Members.
  • Coordination, development, and supervision of policies and procedures relating to food safety and quality, including GMP’s, HACCP, SSOP’s, SQF, and other programs.
  • Perform pre-operational and operational facility inspections to identify problems and offer practical solutions.
  • Perform raw material and finished product inspections and analyses; train Quality Team Members to perform these functions.
  • Maintain and procure inventory of quality, sanitation, safety, and production supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner.
  • Flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet plant needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in food science, Biology, Microbiology, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in production methods and root cause analysis preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of SQF, FDA, and USDA Regulations and Directives, HACCP, SOP’s, and GMP’s.
  • Functional knowledge of quality lab equipment, including Electronic Scale, Electronic Temperature Probe, High Pressure Washer, Temperature Recorders, and Bioluminescence.
  • Proficient computer experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong skills in employee relations, communication, and teamwork, including the ability to give and receive direction and follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to stay focused, accomplish multiple tasks independently with little supervision, and meet established timeframes.
  • Self-starter with the ability to anticipate work requirements.
  • Excellent management and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an environment with occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, and other elements.
  • Wearing safety gear, including safety glasses and other types of safety gear supplied by the company.
  • Frequent periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 75 lbs (unassisted/assisted).
  • Ability to listen, comprehend, and professionally respond to co-worker inquiries, comments, and concerns.
