About the role
You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Mid-Atlantic Calibration Center (MARCC), Code 137, Quality Assurance Office of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Qualifications
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Experience reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting reports produced by lower graded personnel to ensure accuracy, compliance with established standards, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Experience applying the fundamental metrology engineering concepts, terminology and technical directives as related to the calibration process.
- Experience acting decisively and correctly on matters concerning the division, assessing compliance with technical specifications, analyzing root causes of discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Experience applying knowledge of pertinent metrology characteristics such as calibration methods, techniques, and processes required to assure the quality, accuracy, and reliability of all calibrations and services.
- Experience analyzing complex calibration requirements and implementing quality control measures to maintain compliance with NAVSEA standards and guidelines.
- Experience applying naval metrology policies and procedures related to such functional areas as engineering, planning, production, and administration to be utilized in reviewing and categorizing quality data.
- Experience applying basic quality assurance principles involving quality methods and techniques to evaluate work, work processes (e.g., calibration procedures), and shipyard programs (i.e., Team Learning Session (TLS), Self-Assessment initiatives to ensure requirements, standards, and guidelines are being followed).
