About the role

Tria Federal is seeking a QA Specialist/Engineer to join a collaborative team building modern and usable applications for mission-critical U.S. federal government enterprise IT solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases for enterprise business applications.
  • Lead test management activities as part of the SDLC on large scale complex implementations.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement programs utilizing industry standard methodology and standards (i.e. CMMI, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Perform manual and automated testing using business approved testing libraries for both frontend and backend systems.
  • Create and roll out best practices for test management and QA.
  • Help lead and execute testing across many concurrent implementation projects.
  • Provide proposal writing for QA and test management and support business development.
  • Work as a QA Tester with a team of 5–9 full-stack developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Analyze complex business and technical challenges, evaluate impacts across interconnected systems, and develop scalable, user-centered solutions that align with enterprise testing objectives.
  • Perform end-to-end business process analysis to identify gaps, modernize testing opportunities, and improvements that enhance system performance and user experience.
  • Champion modern software engineering and testing practices, including architecture standards, technical excellence, and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Represent engineering teams in client engagements, technical demonstrations, testing design reviews, and stakeholder presentations.

Requirements

  • Ability to successfully obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust (Entry on Duty) clearance designation.
  • Must reside in and be able to perform work in the United States.
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or AA degree with 7 years of experience, or comparable level certification with more than 9 years of experience in IT Quality Assurance and Testing.
  • 4 or more years of experience as a QA/QC Engineer testing large-scale enterprise applications.
  • 4 or more years of experience with front and backend testing.
  • 3+ years of experience testing with application using Angular/React, REST web services testing.
  • 3+ years of experience of developing automation code in tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress.
  • Experience applying object-oriented design (OOD) principles.
  • Experience testing modular API-based microservices using Java (8, 21, or later), Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
  • At least three (3) years working as a tester on all phases of the Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Experience testing with data technologies, including SQL or similar query languages, relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS Aurora, or similar), and data formats such as XML and JSON.
  • Experience testing by consuming web services and APIs, testing ETL components.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, SOA, integration, and performance testing.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native application services, preferably AWS, including services such as EC2, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience or Knowledge of source control and DevSecOps tooling, including Git/GitHub, GitHub Actions, Harness, Jenkins, ArgoCD, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Twistlock, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, in production environments.
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk and New Relic.
  • Knowledge of event-driven and message-based architectures using technologies such as Apache ActiveMQ and Apache Kafka.
  • Must get certified as a USCIS Trusted Tester within 90 days after joining Tria.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience supporting Federal IT projects; other government contract project experience will be considered.

Qualifications

  • Experience working as a QA tester on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Deep understanding of tools/methodologies and industry standards/best practices applied to test management and QA management.
  • Experience working with AWS ecosystem (S3, EKS, RDS, Lambda) and related tools and technologies.
  • Deep understanding of agile work management and the role of testing/QA in project management and requirements management.
  • Demonstrated experience working, collaborating and communicating with software development teams, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Create and maintain a catalog of quality metrics for enterprise data, policy and program performance.
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence.
  • In-depth knowledge of USCIS systems, processes, applications, databases, and electronic submission protocols is highly desirable.
