About the role
We are seeking a Nuclear Quality Specialist/ Engineer to join our team at the Savannah River Site (SRS). This role reports directly to the Nuclear Quality Manager and is responsible for day-to-day execution, field monitoring, and administrative support of the Nuclear Quality Management System (QMS).
Responsibilities
- Execute receipt inspections, field inspections, and operational testing to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Identify, document, and track non-conformance (NCRs) and corrective actions (CAPA) through closure.
- Aid the Nuclear Quality Manager during internal and external audits by gathering evidence, escorting auditors, and tracking findings.
- Review and draft updates for local Quality Procedures to align with NQA-1-2019 and client demands.
- Administer and document indoctrination training, ensuring all employee qualification records are accurately retained.
- Compile quality metrics, inspection logs, and performance data to build content for official Management Reviews.
- Immediately escalate Conditions Adverse to Quality (CAQ) and Significant Conditions Adverse to Quality (SCAQ) to the Nuclear Quality Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of Quality-related experience, with at least 2 years inside a nuclear environment (DOE or DOD facilities highly preferred).
- Functional understanding of ASME NQA-1:2019 requirements and DOE Order 414.1D.
- Active certification as an NQA-1 Auditor/Lead Auditor, or AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or ASNT Level II/III is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with ISO-17025 laboratory calibration standards is preferred.
