Responsibilities

  • Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Collaborates with engineering, laboratory, and production functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess, control, and manage risks of product quality and determine responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Audits quality systems for development acceptance criteria (parameters based on product result).
  • May undertake root cause analysis of incidents requiring corrective action.
  • Ensures that corrective measures and deviation meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Provides input to areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • Applies lean and six-sigma quality methodologies and utilizes quality tools to help drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • PhD or applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 12 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.
  • Must meet the requirements of Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.
  • Requires a Q clearance; the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance applicants.
  • Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or previous certification as a Lead Auditor.
  • Knowledge in requirements such as DOE O 414.1D, American Society of Mechanical Engineers Nuclear Quality Assurance (ASME NQA-1), National Nuclear Security Administration Policy (NAP) 401.1A, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001, American Society for Quality (AS/ASQ) 9100X, American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/ISO International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 17025.
  • American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector Certification.
