About the role

The Quality Assurance Manager at White Castle is responsible for monitoring the quality and safety of raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet White Castle System, Inc., and FDA specifications. This role requires a bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, microbiology, or a related field, along with at least five to seven years of experience in production methods and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the quality control program to ensure finished products meet specifications.
  • Give guidance, direction, and training to all Team Members regarding Quality, Food Safety, HACCP, Food Defense, SQF, and GMP requirements.
  • Serve as the Lead SQF Practitioner.
  • Ensure the production of consistent finished products that meet or exceed quality standards and are safe for human consumption.
  • Select, supervise, train, and guide the quality and sanitation departments.
  • Oversee performance management for team members of the quality and sanitation departments.
  • Coordinate, develop, and supervise policies and procedures relating to food safety and quality, including GMP’s, HACCP, SSOP’s, and SQF.
  • Lead the HACCP team.
  • Perform pre-operational and operational facility inspections to identify problems and offer practical solutions.
  • Perform raw material and finished product inspections and analyses, and train Quality team members to perform these functions.
  • Maintain and procure inventory of quality, sanitation, safety, and production supplies.
  • Responsible for all inspection reports and proper filing.
  • Responsible for purchasing quality, production, sanitation, GMP materials, safety, and pest control supplies.
  • Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to Plant’s security and safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor, and be responsive to the teams’ needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Biology, Microbiology or related field with general knowledge of statistical process control, bacterial control, and sanitation methods.
  • At least five to seven years’ experience in production methods and root cause analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of SQF, FDA Regulations and Directives, HACCP, SOP’s, and GMP’s.
  • Self-starter and able to shift priorities and anticipate operational requirements.
  • Functional knowledge of how all equipment in the quality lab is designed to operate.
  • Proficient computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong employee relations, verbal communication, and teamwork skills, including the ability to give and receive direction and to follow detailed instructions.
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in an environment with occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, and other elements.
  • Frequent periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting 75 lbs. (unassisted/assisted).
