About the role

An entry-level leadership role within the Lyons Magnus Quality Assurance Department, requiring an in-depth understanding of Lyons’ product/process quality and food safety systems. The successful candidate must work in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing environment, advocate quality and food safety guidelines, and communicate any product or process deviations to leadership. The Lead promotes Lyons’ vision and mission statements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform batch adjustments for all processing lines, including processing line checks and verifications such as brix, viscosity, pH, T.A, and other analytical analyses as required by customers or formulas.
  • Review all Quality and Food Safety checks in Red Zone for completeness and final sign-off; resolve deviations within 72 hours or document follow-up actions.
  • Ensure process control checklists (e.g., in-process data sheets, packaging checklists) are completed by all operators and records are effectively stored.
  • Support sanitation activities by verifying the master sanitation schedule as needed.
  • Investigate deviations from operating parameters with production and technician staff to determine root causes.
  • Coordinate with QA Leadership to create training materials, including SOPs, VWIs, and OPLs, for successful policy implementation and adherence.
  • Document all standards per Document Control policies.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of employee skills, competency matrices, and individual development plans.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment and measuring devices are calibrated, verified, and functioning as designed; troubleshoot or escalate repairs as needed.
  • Manage the customer and company retention samples program.
  • Review and communicate label change announcements, new product announcements, and trials to Quality Technicians.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Quality Assurance Leadership.
  • Escalate and communicate department, plant, and company safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Dynamics, RedZone, and Tableau software.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Lyons’ manufacturing capabilities, food safety, and quality plans.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing core competencies.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members.

Pay

$23.00 - $27.00 per hour + shift differential

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM
  • Occasional Saturdays
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends

Location: Westlake, OH

Work Environment: Quality Assurance Laboratory
