Roles and Responsibilities
- Engage regularly with Contractor Quality Control (QC) personnel and all members of the Construction Company Management Team (CCMT), including safety, supervision, leadership, and supply chain management, to maintain open and effective communication.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the scope of work (SOW) for assigned projects.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Review and accept Contractors’ Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) prior to the commencement of work; audit for compliance and communicate results to CCMT members.
- Review and audit contractors’ Quality Manuals and practices, auditing for ongoing compliance and communicating findings to CCMT members.
- Field Surveillance and Monitoring
- Witness critical construction and installation activities and complete all applicable documentation, including but not limited to:
- Mechanical Pressure equipment inspections, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing
- Torquing of mechanical and electrical connections
- Electrical Crimping of critical equipment and cable connections
- Torquing of electrical connections
- Electrical insulation testing for major feeder cables
- Civil, Structural, And Coatings
- Excavation, backfill, and concrete works
- Bolt tensioning
- Application of coatings and insulation
- Identify inconsistencies or discrepancies between field conditions and drawings, and communicate findings to the appropriate CMT Field Technician for resolution.
- Continuously verify contractor performance against approved ITPs and execution plans.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with CCMT members to support project and contractor readiness activities.
- Attend and actively participate in contractor onboarding and performance meetings, presenting quality-related issues and concerns as required.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify lessons learned and propose corrective actions for consideration by CCMT members in future projects.
- Provide ongoing feedback on Cenovus forms, drawings, details, and specifications to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of common deficiencies related to the project scope and the Master Deficiency List, working with CCMT members to close out identified items.
- Reporting
- Prepare and submit written daily reports to CCMT summarizing QA activities, identified risks, issues, and concerns.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma, relevant trade certifications, or equivalent experience in quality assurance.
- 8–10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, industry standards, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
