About the Role
We’re looking for a quality-driven team member who thrives on developing robust processes that minimize variation and customer risk. You communicate clearly, standardizing processes across departments and shifts. You likely bring 3–6 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools to solve problems and continuously improve processes. You’ll ensure compliance to ISO9001 and IATF16949 standards, using a data-driven approach to implement robust, repeatable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the process Quality Engineering representative on new product development and provide strategic quality representation across teams.
- Influence the QMS functions, including design, supplier management, production, document control, and risk management.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate tools, systems, and methods for product/process improvement and conformance.
- Apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to identify and implement improvements, decreasing variability, improving yield, increasing capacity, reducing lead-time, and improving process flow.
- Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventative action initiatives.
- Participate in approving process changes and creating processes for new products.
- Develop product inspection techniques and documentation; perform inspections when necessary.
- Develop and interpret Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts with reaction plans that drive problem-solving and process improvement.
- Train operators on inspection techniques, requirements, and documentation.
- Utilize statistical tools to analyze data and provide regular quality metrics to the organization.
- Collaborate between Suppliers, Customers, Development, and Production teams to ensure quality and Lean principles are built into manual and automated processes.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data trends to eliminate redundant processes and improve existing ones to minimize rework and scrap.
- Provide technical guidance and quality compliance for multiple areas of the quality system to ensure process and product quality.
- Audit supplier, manufacturing, and business processes to ensure compliance with standards and drive improvements.
- Identify and support quality test methods, inspection criteria, risk assessments, and other processes for new products to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Create and maintain ISO 9001/IATF16949 compliant process documentation, including drafting, approval, and control of procedures, work instructions, and forms.
- Perform statistical analysis (mean, median, standard deviation, correlation).
- Solve problems using advanced algebra, geometry, or trigonometry.
- Build and interpret financial models or forecasting tools.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- 3–6 years of production experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Experience in utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools and concepts, such as 5S, Gemba, Kanban, Kaizen, etc.
- Experience on the following machines strongly preferred: layup, consolidator, waterjet, CNC router, and/or press.
