CEIS | Government is seeking a highly experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to support quality assurance activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This senior-level position will provide technical leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and applications supporting an effective Laboratory quality program. The successful candidate will bring broad quality assurance expertise and the ability to independently address unusually complex, significant, or unique quality issues. This individual will serve as a senior technical resource, developing advanced concepts, methodologies, techniques, and standards while working across organizations to ensure quality requirements are effectively understood, implemented, and maintained. This is an expert-level role requiring exceptional independent judgment, technical depth, and the ability to influence decisions that may have significant organizational and programmatic impact. Key Responsibilities Guide the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of quality assurance programs, processes, procedures, and applications. Serve as a senior technical authority for complex quality issues, providing expert interpretation, recommendations, and solutions. Evaluate existing quality processes and identify opportunities to improve program effectiveness, consistency, compliance, and performance. Develop advanced QA concepts, techniques, methodologies, criteria, and standards based on established professional principles and requirements. Independently analyze complex or unusual quality issues where resolution requires significant judgment and evaluation of technical and programmatic factors. Provide highly creative and technically defensible solutions to quality-related problems affecting Laboratory programs, projects, or operations. Assess implementation of quality requirements and determine whether processes and controls effectively achieve intended objectives. Provide technical guidance and consultation to engineering, operations, project, quality, and management personnel. Coordinate across organizations and establish effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, external organizations, and key decision-makers. Support the development and improvement of procedures, work processes, documentation, and quality-related systems. Communicate complex quality issues, risks, recommendations, and expectations clearly to technical personnel and organizational leadership. Contribute to long-range quality objectives and initiatives with the potential to affect future programs, technologies, and organizational performance. Exercise substantial independence in determining the appropriate course of action, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria necessary to achieve objectives. Initiate and execute assignments with minimal oversight while maintaining accountability for technically sound and defensible results. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Industrial/Systems Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. Extensive experience developing, implementing, evaluating, or improving formal quality assurance programs and processes. Demonstrated expertise resolving complex quality issues requiring significant technical judgment and independent decision-making. Experience developing or interpreting quality procedures, requirements, standards, methodologies, or program controls. Demonstrated ability to operate at a senior technical level with minimal supervision and significant latitude in determining approaches and solutions. Strong experience working across technical disciplines, organizations, and stakeholder groups. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical and quality matters to leadership. Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information in a secure environment. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supporting DOE, NNSA, LANL, nuclear, national laboratory, or other highly regulated federal environments. Advanced knowledge of quality assurance principles and their application within complex engineering, nuclear, manufacturing, construction, or operational environments. Experience performing or supporting assessments, audits, surveillances, corrective actions, causal analysis, or continuous improvement activities. Familiarity with nuclear or DOE quality requirements and consensus quality standards. Experience influencing quality strategy and providing technical direction across multiple organizations or disciplines. Post-graduate coursework or an advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline. Professionally recognized quality, engineering, auditing, or related certifications.
