Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

About the role

The GBS Group has an exciting opportunity for a QA Automation Engineer. In this position, you will lead the effort to automate much of the testing for a critical US Navy ship board system. You will perform testing by developing automated suites for the UI as well as the logic behind the interface. This position will contribute real value by developing, troubleshooting, and testing a critical system both in lab and on actual Naval ships and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform both in house lab and shipboard testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of developed systems software and hardware.
• Develop, plan, schedule, and execute test plans and test procedures for computer programs and hardware.
• Document issues, faults, or deficiencies found during software and hardware testing, troubleshoot issues, identify root cause, and propose possible solutions to enable proper operation and allow system testing to continue.
• Provide remote troubleshooting assistance to onsite representatives.

Requirements

• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
• Math skills.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites and/or work in a lab teaming environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree from an ABET‑accredited college or university.
• Two (2) years of professional experience in QA including automated testing design, creation, maintenance, and ongoing management (desired).
• One (1) year of professional experience with Linux/Unix based systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) (desired).
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment coordinating with others.
• Good understanding of networking/IT basics.

Pay and Benefits

• Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 based on experience.
