Roles And Responsibilities
- Conduct visual, liquid penetrate and magnetic particle inspection methods to assess weld repairs completed on heavy equipment
- Review work packages before starting work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements
- Follow basic Test and Inspection Plans for projects
- Perform in-process work surveillances and weld surveillances, and assist production management with final work-package review after work completion
- Help prepare Corrective Action Requests, and Preventive Action requests as related to repair work to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Absolutely ensure compliance with NAVSEA Standard Item and other customer-related requirements to ensure work is conducted accurately and safely
- Follows test standards and specifies test equipment associated with requirements established in test and inspection plans
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Degree
- Six (6) years general quality management systems experience and a minimum of recent (within 15 years): Five (5) consecutive years in Quality Assurance and Non-Destructive Testing
- Five (5) consecutive years’ experience in shipbuilding environment with general knowledge and understanding of metallic fabrication machinery, precision welding, brazing, tube bending, and shipboard safety
- Five consecutive (5) years’ experience and certification to Level II NAVSEA TECH PUB 271 or ASNT TC-1A for Non-Destructive Testing to include; Visual, Liquid Penetrate, and Magnetic Particle Inspection Methods
- Knowledge of proper use of diagnostic equipment
- Possess basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Possess organizational skills
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills
- Able to work in a team environment and be flexible
- Able to travel overseas when required
- Possess or ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
- Possess or ability to obtain a US Passport
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military expeditionary equipment maintenance experience
- Naval Ships’ Technical Manual (NSTM) Chapter 074 Volume 1 Welding and Allied Processes and Fabrication, Welding and Inspection of Small Boats and Craft, Aluminum Hulls
Pay Range
The pay range for this role is $33.00 - $36.00 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
ADA Notations
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a field environment for extended periods (and in some cases, areas of extreme heat and humidity such as Guam, Djibouti, Bahrain, etc)
- Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions
- Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
- Travel requirement less than 25%
- Job may require bending, stooping, lifting, and will be in an environment of low and high temperatures
