About the role

The Quality Assurance and Control Engineer at TSMC Arizona plays a crucial role in ensuring that all quality policies and practices are followed consistently on the project. They are responsible for developing and administering quality-related policies, procedures, techniques, and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor welding procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards such as ASTM, ASME, or AWS.
  • Able to identify issues such as improper welding techniques, material defects, or insufficient weld penetration.
  • Visually inspect the welds and fusions on fittings and joints and verify adherence to all manufacturer and client procedures.
  • Maintain a three-level inspection process and conduct daily observations to ensure all levels are undertaken and documented.
  • Examine the work area to ensure all required work is completed and follows contract requirements, resolving any discrepancies.
  • Ensure all work in place complies with approved submittals and contract documents, and oversee rework items.
  • Support strategic planning efforts by participating in internal and external stakeholder meetings and activities.
  • Perform internal quality inspections and participate in IOR inspections.
  • Prepare quality management plans for specialized projects and schedule and conduct pre-installation conferences.
  • Supervise testing agencies and maintain records to ensure testing is performed according to ASTM standards.
  • Verify materials meet contract-specific requirements and participate in Contractor Quality weekly meetings.
  • Oversee daily and weekly QC/QA reports to ensure activities are in compliance with established standards.
  • Adhere to employer Core Values and Principles, follow the Code of Conduct, and report incidents, near misses, and hazards to management.
  • Participate in workplace inspections and required training sessions.
  • Attend prestart and safety meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Show working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and AIA guidelines as applicable to design and construction field.

Qualifications

  • A graduate of a four-year accredited college or university program in engineering, architecture, construction management, engineering technology, building construction, or building science; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of large project and construction management experience, preferably with semiconductor industrial experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction standards and best practices.
  • Strong computer skills using Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, MS Office, Smartsheet, ACC, Bluebeam, and BIM 360 Field.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3, NFPA 70, NFPA 54, and IBC Chapter 17, along with general knowledge of other applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience with interpreting and enforcing contract requirements, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • USACE Construction Quality Management certificate.
  • CWI certification.
  • ANST II certification.
  • ICC certification.

Physical Requirements

  • May spend extended hours working inside and outside in all weather conditions, and in awkward body positions which can cause physical discomfort and strain.
  • Required to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and adjust heavy objects.
  • Work with sharp, hot, and cold equipment and parts.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear a personal respirator.
  • Sensory demands include exposure to the smells associated with industrial chemical operations, sounds associated with powered tools and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders, work at elevation from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, roofs, or platforms, and work in confined spaces.
