Duration: 1 year with extension. Hybrid work mode: 4 days in office (Columbia, SC) and 1 day remote. Candidate must be a South Carolina resident or willing to relocate to SC at their own expense prior to starting. W2 and US Citizenship or Green Card required.
About the role
The Quality Assurance Tester – Advanced will be assigned to projects for the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS), collaborating with the SCDHHS Project Management Office (PMO). The PMO staffs all SCDHHS projects and establishes IT governance and standards followed by all enterprise project teams at the Medicaid Agency for South Carolina. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy working on complex, change-oriented projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform tests on technical solutions to isolate and solve issues; initiate tests, analyze results, and find solutions to technical problems.
- Demonstrate proficiency in SCDHHS test processes and SDLC tools.
- Translate functional and technical requirements and designs into test cases.
- Develop and execute functional and technical test cases under the direction of test leads and senior testers.
- Create and maintain SDLC traceability from test cases to requirements and designs/software components.
- Assist in generation of requirement traceability matrices.
- Participate in defect triage, retest, and resolution.
- Create quality assurance documentation and reports as required.
- Develop and execute test cases.
- Clearly communicate and document test status and defects identified.
Requirements
- 2 years translating business requirements or policy documentation into test cases and scenarios.
- 2 years knowledge of manual testing techniques (functional, regression, smoke, usability, boundary testing).
- 3 years deep knowledge of healthcare operations (preferably Medicaid) and business processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, healthcare, or related field (years of experience can substitute for formal education).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- 2 years’ experience with large enterprise or e-business systems.
- 3 years’ experience using QA tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or similar.
- 3 years prior experience working in a standard SDLC (waterfall methodology) and in an AGILE delivery.
