Quality Assistant
About the role
Reporting to the Quality Assurance (QA)/Food Safety Manager, the QA Assistant is responsible for communicating approved information on food safety, product quality, and other assigned topics to both management and plant personnel. The QA Assistant will collaborate in Food Safety & quality inspections and compliance audits.
Responsibilities
- Assist in editing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, programs, and production forms
- Maintain the Document Control System
- Assist in Food Safety and Quality Training, as directed by the Quality Assurance Food Safety Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager
- Update and create product specifications
- Provide documentation and samples for customer requests
- Perform internal facility audits and provide corrective actions for findings
- Assist in external audits and coordinate any follow-up actions required
- Track all quality holds, review deviation paperwork, and other documents with the FSQ Supervisor and FSQ Manager
- Collect and review sanitation and pest control records
- Adhere to GMPs, GLPs, and all other quality programs
- Wear PPE when required and strictly adhere to all safety procedures
- Ensure work area is clean and organized
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or state equivalency is required
- One year of food manufacturing experience required; a Bachelor’s Degree can be substituted for one year of experience
- Experience in document control, GMPs, and HACCP preferred
- Detail-oriented and inclined toward process improvement
- Flexibility with scheduled days and hours
- Self-starter, hands-on, and highly motivated with little supervision
- Must speak, read, and write English and Spanish
- Good work ethics and professionalism
- Team player who works well with all personnel
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
This role is performed on-site at a facility that regularly processes tree nuts. Employees in this position will routinely work in areas where tree nuts and related allergens are present and may be exposed by contact or in the air. Pay
The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $27–$29 per hour and is based on position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
