About the role
Pike is a leading provider of construction, repair and engineering services for electric and gas utilities, as well as telecommunications companies with a growing portfolio of turnkey renewable projects. This position provides services related to safety, health, work methods, and training.
Responsibilities
- Visits crews in the field and observes, trains, and teaches safety, quality, and work methods.
- Oversees safety compliance during construction of large transmission projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, timelines, and construction standards.
- Identifies areas needing further focus, develops schedules, and presents training materials on those areas.
- Identifies crews needing further training on safety, quality, and work methods.
- Works with Area Supervisor to develop plans to train and address crew deficiencies.
- Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of transmission construction, including pulling/installing conductors, structure setting and removal, rigging, and optimizing efficiency while maintaining safety.
- Utilizes expertise in establishing and maintaining equipotential zones to protect workers from electric shock hazards during the construction process.
- Creates and maintains safety documents, ensuring compliance with all relevant OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Evaluates employee and driver performance.
- Conducts program level audits of EHS programs.
- Recognizes problems, responds systematically, gathers information, sorts through complex issues, seeks input from others, addresses root cause of issues, makes timely decisions, can make difficult decisions, uses consensus when possible, communicates decisions to others.
- Manages deenergized work procedures, including clearance windows, to facilitate safe and secure work execution.
- Utilizes in-depth understanding of work clearances specific to Florida to ensure compliance and safety during construction activities.
- Targets and achieves results, sets challenging goals, prioritizes tasks, overcomes obstacles, accepts accountability.
- Fosters a collaborative and results-driven work environment, motivating and guiding the construction team to achieve project objectives effectively.
- Promotes a culture of safety excellence, enforcing safety protocols, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in safety practices while acting as the liaison between safety and the utilities organization.
Requirements
- Multiple years of experience and subject matter expertise related to training, safety, and quality control.
- Commercial drivers' license with Intrastate Authorized OSHA Authorized Outreach Instructor certification, preferred Certified CSP, CHST, CUSP, CET certifications.
- Must be able to work a flexible shift.
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
- Able to speak effectively before groups of people.
- Able to type out routine reports and correspondence.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Able to deal with a large diverse groups.
- Skilled in the use of computers, adapts to new technology, keeps abreast of changes, learns new programs quickly, uses computers to improve productivity.
Qualifications
- Must have a commercial drivers' license with Intrastate Authorized OSHA Authorized Outreach Instructor certification, preferred Certified CSP, CHST, CUSP, CET certifications.
- Must have 4-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
- Able to speak effectively before groups of people.
- Able to type out routine reports and correspondence.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Able to deal with a large diverse groups.
- Skilled in the use of computers, adapts to new technology, keeps abreast of changes, learns new programs quickly, uses computers to improve productivity.

Pay
