Quality Analyst II

Principal Activities

• Performs all quality assurance tests on Raw Materials and finished products in a precise and accurate manner.
• Inputs data into SAP for material batch test results and interfaces with Sugar Land QA department with regard to Master Inspection Characteristics, shelf life, and other sections of the Quality Module.
• Maintains inventory status of reagents, lab equipment, etc.
• Prepares lab standard test reagents. Performs standardization on reagents and calibration of equipment on a regular basis. Keeps detailed records. Maintains control charts.
• Oversees or performs the maintenance of laboratory and/or facility analytical equipment and initiates the purchase, installation and implementation for improved monitoring or analysis.
• Maintains compliance with ISO management system.
• Covers for Production Leader to pull samples of any Raw Materials, RMAs, Restricted Batches or QI Batches, so the Quality Analyst can perform the appropriate QA tests and analysis.
• Communicates results to Production and Material Control, calculates and recommends batch adjustments to Production.
• Maintains a log of problem batches and the actions that were taken.
• Packages and ships samples to other facilities and customers.
• Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work environment and assures smooth operation of the QA Laboratory.
• Ensures product formulas and specifications are current and that all materials have MSDS information available.
• Coordinates with the Production Leader to pull samples of any Raw Materials, RMAs, Restricted Batches or QI Batches, so the Quality Analyst can perform the appropriate QA tests and analysis.
• Performs all basic calibration on lab equipment.
• Continues improving expertise in chemistry, analytical techniques, and equipment maintenance.
• Manages retain database and rework of retains.
• Aids with ECAP and other relevant audits.
• Insures that the lab is adequately covered during vacation and sick days.
• Supports the guiding principles of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 to continually improve Scott plant's safety, health and environmental performance, security, and efforts to respond to public concerns relating to design, development, manufacture, storage, marketing, distribution, use and ultimate safe disposal of chemical products.
• Supports and is committed to the Quality Improvement process. Plans strategies to ensure error-free work by "doing it right the first time" and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties.

Requirements

• Must have background in scientific skills such as, oil laboratory analysis, quality assurance and control, analytical chemistry, etc.
• Either a Bachelor's Degree in a science medium or 2 years equivalent experience must be provided.
