Qualified Safety Person

About The Job

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, dedicated, and experienced Qualified Safety Person for our growing company. The candidate must have extensive knowledge of workplace safety protocols and demonstrate a high degree of responsibility towards ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees and stakeholders on our worksite. The candidate will be tasked with ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including the New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage health and safety protocols on site.
• Perform regular site inspections to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Identify potential hazards and propose corrective actions.
• Provide safety training and education to employees.
• Maintain documentation related to health and safety regulations.
• Respond to and investigate safety incidents.
• Provide administrative and technical direction for all project safety and health programs, procedures, and policies.
• Supervise and develop safety personnel as needed.
• Provide direction and assistance to division, project, and department management personnel to ensure compliance with all safety, accident, and fire programs, procedures, and policies.
• Thoroughly investigate all safety and environmental incidents and prepare required reports.
• Recommending remedial action as needed.
• Represent the company in all safety-related meetings.
• Perform inspections and safety audits.
• Maintain a daily site safety log and all other safety-related activities, including feedback from competent persons, safety deficiencies, and corrective actions were taken at each worksite.
• Conduct hazard and job safety analysis to ensure proper use of machinery and equipment, personal protective equipment, and procedures.
• Conduct accident investigations to ascertain causes and develop preventive safety measures.
• Review all safety documentation/reports for accuracy and completeness, and ensure that all required documents are forwarded to federal/state/local agencies and the company insurance carrier as required by regulations.
• Maintain company and project-related safety documentation.
• Act as the company representative on issues relating to environmental protection concerns.

Qualifications & Experience

• NYC DOB 40-Hour Site Safety Manager Course Certificate - Required.
• NYC DOB 62-Hour SST Card - Required.
• NYC DOB 32-Hour Supported Scaffold Supervisor - Required.
• 90 Days of Right-of-Way (ROW) Experience - Required.
• NYCT Track Trained - Required.

• Proven ability to conduct safety training sessions.
