About the Role
The QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) ensures clinical services are delivered in a trauma-informed and person-centered manner while maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice. This position involves diagnosing and assessing client needs for community-based treatment, delivering individual and group Skills Coaching, and working with individuals facing behavioral health issues such as mental health, trauma, and substance use. The QMHP conveys a message of recovery and hope to clients and reports to the Engagement Team Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Provides diagnoses within scope of practice, performs screenings and assessments, and develops person-centered goals with clients in treatment.
- Delivers effective individual Skills Coaching using evidence-based practices based on clients’ assessed life skill needs.
- Offers group Skills Coaching in a community mental health setting, tailored to assessed client needs.
- Uses motivational interviewing techniques and recovery-based engagement tools to improve client outcomes.
- Provides responsive crisis services for clients during regular daytime operations.
- Communicates client issues and needs to treatment teams to promote continuity of care with internal and external providers.
- Completes all required documentation within established timeframes and according to State, Federal, CARF, and program standards.
- Demonstrates strong time management to handle multiple and simultaneous deadlines.
- Meets or exceeds established contact expectations for billing.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Professional Counseling from an accredited college or university.
- At least one (1) year of clinical work in a mental health outpatient setting.
Physical Requirements
- Standard office environment with prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder level.
- Requires typical hearing and manual dexterity for operating office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, photocopier).
- Repetitive use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation.
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for up to 8 hours or longer per workday.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions, adapt to changing schedules, and resolve conflict effectively.
- Regular use of a computer.
- TB test required upon hire.
