QC Technician / Weld Inspector, 1st shift (West Bend)

Responsibilities

• Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits
• Troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems in cooperation with Engineering and production staff
• Recommend methods of assembly, welding, and production
• Perform inspection on first piece, in process, purchased part, finished material, and products, ensuring conformance to specifications
• Test finished products for paint quality and thickness, welding quality, dimensions, fit and appearance
• Perform standard inspection tests including weld testing (UT, PT, VT) testing is a plus
• Rout product for re-work
• Process purchase damage numbers when incorrect material is received
• Ensure finished product is packaged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation
• Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standard
• Communicate with plant supervision noted deviations of tolerances and quality
• Make recommendations regarding safe working methods
• Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures
• Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and job shop operations
• Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• CMM / PCDMIS / Romer Arm Operations or knowledge is a plus
• Ability to inspect welds and fabricated parts for quality compliance
• Ability to perform well in a team environment
• Self-motivator and must be flexible to accommodate the needs of your team
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications and safety regulations
• Ability to complete routine ISIR reports and documentation
• Ability to effectively present information to engineering and other employees of the organization
