QC Tech

Koch Specialty Plant Services (KSPS) is a division of Koch Industries that delivers plant services to refining, petrochemical, chemical, and power generation industries. KSPS focuses on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction, offering turnaround management, specialty welding, mechanical services, coatings, and project management.

This QC Tech role provides field quality‑control support for turnaround projects at various U.S. job sites. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control functions with high regard to integrity on KSPS projects, including the review and execution of field inspection plans.
• Develop skills and gain experience to become a site QC lead, potentially serving as a QC lead on a project.
• Support development, maintain, and keep digital records of quality packages for submittal to the client and KSPS corporate quality personnel.
• Keep corporate and site quality personnel up to date on any quality issues, small or large.
• Maintain a daily log/rollover log to keep quality informed of activities taking place on site.
• Work with on‑site quality personnel as needed in an effective manner with respect and humility.
• Perform material receiving, inspection, and approval.
• Oversee third‑party NDE and heat treatment, reviewing documentation for accuracy.
• Review welder qualifications before execution of work.
• Monitor and inspect field welds and flange make‑ups for conformance with codes, maintaining weld and flange logs.
• Conduct in‑person field reviews of work performed by KSPS personnel as required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work long hours and all shift schedules, potentially up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week for extended durations.
• Capability to work in confined spaces and to climb ladders, scaffolds, and work at heights.
• Willingness to wear personal protective equipment, including rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied‑air and air‑purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses, etc.
• Completion of respiratory protection fit testing and pulmonary function testing; additional medical examinations (e.g., Fitness for Duty) may be required per client guidelines.
• Hearing and vision within normal ranges may be required per client requirements.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in the oil & gas industry.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings (ISO, P&ID, installation/fabrication).
• Familiarity with ASME, API, and NBIC codes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Familiarity with non‑destructive examination and welding methods.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with pressure‑vessel modifications.
• Experience with flange inspection and assembly.
• Experience with pipe fabrication and installation.
• Experience with fired equipment (flares, heaters, etc.).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificate or API 510 certification.
