Job SummaryOur client, a leading technology services provider, is seeking a QA Test Engineer to join their team. This is a fully remote contract opportunity focused on quality assurance and automated testing for distributed, event-driven services. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, automated testing, APIs, messaging technologies, and cloud-based environments. Contract DetailsContract positionFully remote work opportunity Core ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, execute, and maintain automated tests for Yum services and related applicationsLead the creation of comprehensive test scenarios covering functional use cases for new and existing featuresTest messaging and Pub/Sub technologies, including MQTT and similar interfaces such as WebSockets and SSEDevelop and maintain automated tests for GraphQL APIs, including complex queries and functional workflowsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to triage defects, investigate failures, and identify root causes across environmentsMonitor and maintain test pipelines, analyze application and service logs, and troubleshoot failures using observability toolsCommunicate defects clearly and proactively collaborate with development and QA teams to drive issue resolution Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)Solid proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript, including experience with test runners such as MochaHands-on experience with UI test automation frameworks, particularly PlaywrightExperience testing MQTT or similar Pub/Sub interfaces, including WebSockets or SSEExperience testing GraphQL APIs, including complex queries and automated test developmentWorking knowledge of cloud environments and containerized deployments, including Docker images and container registriesWorking knowledge of Git, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or JenkinsExperience analyzing and correlating application and service logs to troubleshoot test failures and identify issues across multiple services Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)Familiarity with Android test automation using Appium or similar frameworksExperience working with Amazon SQS or other cloud-based messaging servicesExperience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecturesFamiliarity with NATS/JetStream or similar messaging platformsExperience working with distributed, microservice-based applicationsExperience using Jira or similar task and defect-tracking platformsExperience leveraging AI-powered development and testing tools to improve automation, troubleshooting, and delivery velocity Key Competencies & BehaviorsAnalytical Problem-Solving: Ability to investigate complex failures, correlate logs, and identify root causes across distributed servicesQuality Ownership: Proactively identify risks, develop comprehensive test coverage, and advocate for product qualityCollaboration: Effectively partner with developers, QA professionals, and cross-functional teams to resolve issuesCommunication: Clearly document defects, test results, and technical findings while proactively initiating discussionsAdaptability & Innovation: Willingness to adopt new technologies and leverage AI tools to improve testing and development workflows Work EnvironmentLocation: Fully Remote Compensation & BenefitsPay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $33.00 and $48.00 per hour.
