About the role
A Quality Assurance Technician ensures product safety and quality through periodic checks, calibration, and compliance with food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Monitors key process control points before, during, and after production operations.
- Documents and reports any food safety or quality issues to enable corrective actions.
- Calibrates production scales according to the facility’s Calibration Program.
- Performs process monitoring and verification checks on Work-In-Process and finished products per the facility’s Food Safety Plan and Quality Plan.
- Verifies the facility’s environment, including temperature, sanitizer concentrations, and other assigned parameters.
- Observes employee practices, documents findings, and coaches good manufacturing practices.
- Performs filling and packaging verification checks according to the facility’s Food Safety Plan and Quality Plan.
- Collects samples of in-process intermediates for testing.
- Completes Hold Tags and Cooling Tags to isolate non-conforming products when appropriate.
- Participates in daily product review of key sensory attributes of finished products.
- Attends monthly Safety/Food Safety trainings and other assigned trainings.
Requirements
- Must comply with all USDA and FDA regulations.
- Prior QA experience, preferably in a food processing environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety, proper food handling, and storage.
- Familiarity with commercial food processing and packaging equipment is helpful.
- Ability to communicate quality deficiencies and corrective action procedures effectively.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
