About the role

An integral part of the QA department, the Quality Assurance Technician works to maximize effectiveness, compliance, and day-to-day quality specification adherence. This role supports production by monitoring daily procedures, performing quality analysis, collecting and maintaining product samples, and conducting necessary swabbing and CCP checks. The position works closely with production teams to uphold manufacturing specifications and promptly communicate quality concerns to prevent delays. The QA tech must be able to adapt to a variety of work environments and support Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) to ensure consistent product quality and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Performs required analytical laboratory tests on process product samples and finished goods, as well as product and packaging materials and incoming products.
  • Performs government compliance testing on products that contain alcohol prior to release.
  • Evaluates all quality data to ensure a quality product; may include shutting down packaging equipment to maintain quality standards.
  • Quarantines out-of-specification product and alerts appropriate production teams of impact.
  • Audits operator quality checks to determine completeness and operators’ ability to perform tasks appropriately.
  • Evaluates instrumentation control through the use of statistical process control.
  • Monitors, calibrates, troubleshoots, and maintains laboratory equipment; requests assistance from maintenance teams for complex issues.
  • Completes all required paperwork and data entry accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with other departments regarding the status of in-process product streams, various materials, and/or finished products.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards to prevent cross-contamination during processing.
  • Identifies areas of opportunity to improve processes.
  • Ensures compliance with internal, Federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations including but not limited to: GMP, HACCP, OSHA, FDA, and TTB.
  • Reviews product formulations and specifications; communicates with other departments regarding new product specifications, methods, and testing needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science field; or prior experience in a quality position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement corrective actions.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods and computer skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize an assigned workload.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
  • Ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends as needed in support of a 24/7 operation.

Schedule

  • 2nd Shift: 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am
