About the role

Management of all aspects of quality assurance and quality control for fixed equipment, including weld inspection, assembly inspection, and management of materials of construction. Duties will include field inspections of equipment such as internal inspection of tanks and digesters. Travel may be required at times for shop inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all quality assurance and quality control aspects of mechanical repairs.
  • Manage tank integrity projects for tanks requiring maintenance according to API 653 regulations.
  • Support portions of larger capital projects requiring new tank construction per API 650 and/or significant tank upgrades.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Scheduling, and Environmental to develop schedules for performing tank work.
  • Prepare estimates, budgets, schedules, materials and contract specifications, procurement plans, and work plans for projects; track and report on project progress and performance.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute tank integrity projects to meet Company standards and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for assigned projects.
  • Prepare the annual sustaining capital budget and major maintenance budget for tank integrity.
  • Ensure tank inspection and repairs are documented per regulatory requirements and Company standards, maintaining organized records for future reference.
  • Provide technical support during the review of tank integrity processes and procedures to maintain consistent assessment and repair practices.
  • Provide support to field maintenance technicians and operations staff.
  • Maintain and enforce the Approved Manufacturers List for materials.
  • Maintain PCA piping specifications for all piping services throughout the mill and assure adherence to specifications by projects, contractors, and PCA.
  • Review material specifications, contractor welding and welder qualifications, and determine required NDE for fabrication both onsite and offsite to ensure compliance with applicable codes and PCA specifications.
  • Supervise contract personnel as required as well as in-house maintenance.
  • Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety as well as the safety of employees, the public, and company assets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree preferred with a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of ASME Boiler & Vessel Codes (Sec VIII Div I & II) and ASME Piping Codes (B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8).
  • Experience with Pressure Vessel Inspection (API 510), Pressure Piping Inspection (API 570), and Pressure Relief Systems (API 520/526).
  • Familiarity with Tank Evaluations (API 620/650/653), Risk-Based Inspection (API 580/581), Fitness for Service (API 579), and Damage Mechanisms (API 571).
  • Preferred certifications: API 653 Tank Inspector, AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Level II Ultrasonic Testing per ASNT SNT-TC-1A, and qualifications in Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant Testing, and X-Ray film interpretation.
  • Knowledge of corrosion and welding, including structural and pipe welding with GTAW and SMAW processes.
  • Working knowledge of fixed equipment inspection tasks/procedures and NDT management, including Ultrasonic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Positive Material Identification, and material hardness testing.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports describing degradation mechanisms, their effects, process streams, etc.
  • Personnel supervision experience, including contractors.

Pay

Starting salary range for this position: $108,500 to $155,000.
