QA/QC Superintendent
Position Summary
The QA/QC Superintendent plays a critical role in ensuring that all prefabrication processes and products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This position is responsible for inspecting raw materials, in-process work, and finished products to ensure they meet blueprints, technical specifications, and client requirements. The QA/QC Superintendent supports continuous improvement efforts, identifies non-conformances, and collaborates with production teams to resolve quality issues and maintain compliance with industry standards, including ISO requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of raw materials, subassemblies, and finished products. Verify conformity to specifications, blueprints, and industry standards.
Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection instruments.
Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, including logs of non-conformances. Prepare and distribute inspection reports to supervisors, engineers, and management. Communicate quality issues clearly and promptly to relevant stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to ISO standards, company quality policies, and customer requirements. Participate in internal and external quality audits. Support the enforcement of quality procedures throughout fabrication and assembly processes.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to determine root causes of defects. Recommend and support corrective actions to eliminate quality issues. Provide feedback to help improve manufacturing and inspection processes.
Contribute to the development and refinement of quality control procedures. Suggest and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Additional certifications or training in quality control or inspection are preferred.
At least 2 years of experience in quality inspection within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Experience with metal fabrication processes and tolerances is preferred.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and deviations.
Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards is preferred.
Welding experience and/or SPC (Statistical Process Control) knowledge are a plus.
