Responsibilities

  • Supports development and implementation of Quality activities.
  • Contributes to continued improvement area initiatives.
  • Assists Quality Managers/Area Quality Leads in deploying Quality program initiatives.
  • Conducts internal quality audits, as per area/project quality audit plan, when assigned.
  • Provides assistance for obtaining applicable certifications, such as ASME, ISO, etc.
  • Provides training to other project or shop personnel, as necessary.
  • Understands project requirements related to Welding and QA/QC and assures compliance.
  • Understands sub-contract agreement requirements.
  • Understands local regulatory requirements related to quality.
  • Prepares and maintains project deliverables, based on the organization’s management system and project requirements.
  • Coordinates welding and QA/QC engineers and inspectors to ensure completion of any inspection and testing.
  • Maintains project records, as per the organization’s records management system.
  • Ensures sufficient QA/QC resources are available to support all Project Processes.
  • Manages non-conformances and corrective actions, including root cause analysis, as applicable.
  • Prepares and submits weekly, monthly quality reports to Operations and Functional management.
  • Advise Project Team on all QA/QC issues.
  • Coordinates NDE activities at project site or shop.
  • Supervises welders and welding operators, ensuring quality of the product, as assigned.
  • Maintains up-to-date qualifications and certifications for welders, welding operators, NDE technicians, as applicable.
  • Contributes to a positive project or Shop Safety Culture.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of Company/Industry experience, out of which 10-15 years should be in the relevant discipline.
  • Engineering degree (Typically Weld Engineering) preferred.
  • Knowledge of the following codes, as applicable: ASME Section II, ASME Section V, ASME Section VIII, ASME Section IX, ASTM Material, API 650, API 620, AWWA D100, AWS D1.1, ASME B31.3, ASME B16.5/B16.47, etc. (including product specific related codes as and when needed).

Skills and Behaviors

  • Expertise in Welding & NDE methods applicable to the project or shop.
  • Knowledge in applicable Management System documentation.
  • Acts as focal point for all Welding & QA/QC matters at the point of assignment.
  • Understands project requirements and ensures compliance.
  • Compiles project records and handover to the projects for final documentation.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external disciplines at multiple levels.
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of: NDE Level II in VT, MT, PT, SFT, UT, RT, Give Written NDE Examinations, Give Practical NDE Examinations, Maintain Qualification Records, Administer Annual Eye Test, CWI Paint Inspection Knowledge, Hydro Test, Safety.
