QA/QC Inspector

About the role

Under general supervision, applies skills and knowledge to determine the degree of conformance of materials, equipment, and installation to Wanzek or Client specifications. Performs inspection of various project activities; generates reports of conditions found during inspection activities; notifies management of significant problems; completes documentation to attest to satisfactory completion of inspection or test activities.

Responsibilities

• Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
• Inspect and ensure the quality of work performed during the daily activities of construction on large-scale wind, solar, and industrial projects, including but not limited to: roads, environmental (SWPPP), excavations, concrete, rebar, substations, transmission lines, solar racking and PV installation, underground utilities, wind turbine installation, steel erection, welding, piping, valves, pumps, compressors, and a wide variety of other mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Demonstrate good organizational, planning, and time management skills; plan and conduct daily activities in a highly organized manner to ensure all QC and QA data are properly and accurately recorded.
• Monitor and record all work scope being executed on a daily basis and follow reporting criteria as determined by FQM and/or the client, as needed.
• Prevent deficiencies while working closely with field operating teams through pre-construction quality control inspections.
• Detect and address deficiencies in a timely and effective manner.
• Work closely with the field quality staff, acting as their field representative to ensure construction understands and follows QA/QC requirements.
• Interface with field supervision to maintain an open line of communication and reporting, monitor job progress, schedules, and subcontractor performance.
• Maintain complete and accurate records during inspections so they can be transferred to permanent hard copy and/or electronic files.
• Inspect the work and establish punch lists.
• Determine calibration status of measuring and test equipment.
• Ensure daily task schedules are met to align with the project schedule.
• Interact cross-functionally with craft personnel and other team members.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field, or High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) plus 1-3 years of experience in a related construction field.
• Inspection-related certifications, such as NDE, preferred.

• Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and technical procedures.
• Write daily reports and document project activities.
• Effectively collect and record field data to ensure activities conform to corporate Quality Control procedures.
• Ensure the effective implementation of the quality control program for assigned project tasks.
• Preferred: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume.
• Preferred: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve problems individually and in a team setting.

Pay

$19.00 - $22.00/hourly, commensurate with experience.
