Manage the Quality Assurance and Food Safety functions for branded, private label, gourmet/specialty, and foodservice products. Lead a team of QA supervisors and staff to ensure product safety and quality throughout the production process, from raw materials to finished goods.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF system, including food safety and food quality fundamentals, and update all SQF documents, manuals, procedures, and forms.
- Own and take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF system.
- Communicate to relevant personnel all essential information to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF system.
- Serve as the central driver for all SQF requirements and maintain a library of all SQF documents.
- Manage ongoing audits of SQF Policies and Procedures.
- Plan, implement, and conduct annual audits of each department to ensure SQF compliance.
- Maintain and update training documentation.
- Assist with the management of HACCP, GMPs, and the new product specification system.
- Support and assist with Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma initiatives.
- Formulate and maintain quality assurance objectives for Retail, Foodservice, and Gourmet/Contract businesses.
- Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring work activities such as weight control, moisture, degree of roast, caffeine analysis, sanitation, overall food quality, and food safety programs.
- Facilitate all food safety and quality-related audits for the facility.
- Manage, plan, coordinate, and direct quality assurance technicians to ensure continuous production and service consistent with established quality standards.
- Interface with key customers and their quality teams relating to compliance standards.
- Supervise the development and analysis of statistical data and specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectations.
- Utilize quality data to drive improvements in operations.
- Manage the overall plant sanitation and food safety programs.
- Process and assist in sampling for sales/customers.
- Manage and assist with customer complaints and questions relating to the company’s brands, private label, and foodservice; assist with customer letters and product samples when needed.
- Participate in cupping finished product.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field required.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in managing a quality assurance function inside a food and beverage, flavor house, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- SQF, Six-Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing experience required.
- PCQI and HACCP Certifications required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including the ability to create pivot tables (Excel) and PowerPoint presentations.
- Able to work independently and maintain collaborative working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to walk long distances in a factory, non-climate-controlled setting.
- Some travel may be involved.
Pay
$100,800 - $130,000
Food Safety Requirements
Must comply with all Federal, State, Corporate, Warehouse, and Food Safety standards, policies, and guidelines (i.e., HACCP, GMP, SQF, FDA, etc.).
