About the role
Saputo is a top 10 global dairy processor committed to making high-quality products, investing in its people, and supporting communities worldwide. The Laboratory Technician position in Franklin, WI is a key role in a new 340,000 square foot conversion facility, contributing to Saputo's strategy to optimize its cheese network in North America. Saputo has a strong presence in Wisconsin and is expanding its operations there.
Responsibilities
- Monitors production areas to inspect product quality, sample, and analyze against established specifications and controls.
- Documents and reports any quality deviations to leadership and recommends corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Collects samples and performs physical and analytical testing of raw ingredients, packaging materials, and finished goods dairy food products in accordance with established guidelines.
- Applies and interprets microbiological/bacteriological results.
- Identifies and communicates out-of-specification analytical test results.
- Routinely collects product samples from production lines as needed.
- Maintains accurate and neat QC records and enters data into the system.
- Prepares stock solutions and calibrates and maintains lab testing equipment.
- Performs environmental control swabbing after clean-up and CIP/SIP.
- Reports any deviations.
- Supports consumer complaint investigations and internal/external audits.
- Supports mock and product recall programs.
- Completes and maintains specific State regulatory licensing/certificates (CDFA, DFA Appendix N, Good Laboratory Practices).
- Ensures good laboratory housekeeping and compliance with Quality Assurance Procedures (QAP’s).
- Complies with federal, state, and local dairy food regulations.
- Adheres to the Saputo Code of Ethics and applies the Saputo Company Values.
- Works collaboratively with co-workers and other department personnel.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Food or Dairy Science, preferred.
- Advanced quality/food safety training and/or certifications, a plus.
- A working understanding of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, QA/QC, CQP, QAP, HACCP, SOP, 5S, GMP, etc.).
- Ability to pass and maintain regulatory certification, as required.
- Professionalism and positive representation of Saputo.
- Physical abilities to work in a manufacturing environment, including noise, temperature changes, standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around equipment, lifting up to 40 lbs unassisted.
