About the role

Under direct supervision and following established laboratory procedures, the technician is responsible for conducting microbiological and chemical testing of food products. They will also assist with company-wide projects related to food safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Apply aseptic techniques in all aspects of work
  • Conduct microbiological and chemical testing of food products
  • Inventory and report the status of consumables (e.g., supplies)
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and sanitize laboratory equipment
  • Critically analyze data and enter results into the LIMS database
  • Maintain agents and media as needed for daily testing
  • Assist with investigational studies
  • Follow all laboratory safety guidelines
  • Share information and collaborate with co-workers in an open and timely manner
  • Conduct equipment calibration activities
  • Lead by example to ensure actions support goals for quality, quantity, and safety

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in microbiology preferred
  • Relevant work experience and proven skills may be considered in lieu of education
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, individually and as a team
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as business demands
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills, including Outlook and Excel
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Basic understanding of quality control laboratory equipment and methodologies

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Laboratory environment; sterile environment
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
