About the role

You will oversee and manage the quality testing process at the facility, ensuring all standards are met or exceeded. You will train and mentor team members on quality control practices while actively driving initiatives to surpass quality and environmental objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform QA/QC testing on Resins and other chemical products.
  • Train operators on applicable analytical methods and assist them in working toward continuous improvement.
  • Perform equipment calibration and maintenance for the production and QA labs.
  • Maintain and operate advanced analytical equipment including a GC.
  • Use statistical and quality tools to help meet or exceed quality goals.
  • Review product and raw material quality data in the ERP system (M3/Infor) for accuracy.
  • Package and ship samples per DOT and IATA requirements.
  • Support the Quality and Environmental departments.
  • Manage the Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program.
  • Manage the stormwater testing program.
  • Manage universal hazardous waste program.
  • Adhere to all plant health, safety, and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures by wearing necessary Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, face shields, chemical suits, respirators, ear plugs, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, or safety shoes.

Requirements

  • 4 years of laboratory or environmental experience, or an Associate degree with 2 years of laboratory/environmental experience, or a BS degree in science.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working as part of a multifunctional team and performing work with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Willing and able to work in a manufacturing plant setting.
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Day shift with willingness to work overtime and on weekends, if necessary (limited).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in organic and polymer chemistry.
  • Two (2) years or more working in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting analytical equipment including titrators, GC, gas analyzers.
  • Environmental knowledge of Air permits, stormwater permits, SARA, SPCC, RMP.

This role is based in Taylorsville, located in Southeast Mississippi, just an hour outside Jackson and Hattiesburg. Taylorsville is home to a variety of industries, including lumber, manufacturing, agriculture, and finance. Nearby attractions include the Bienville National Forest, several state parks and lakes, and the cities of Laurel and Hattiesburg, known for cultural sites like the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, Hattiesburg Zoo, and Mississippi Armed Forces Museum.
