QA Automation Engineer with Playwright
About The Role
As a QA Automation Engineer with Playwright & AI experience, you will make an impact by driving quality assurance initiatives through the development and enhancement of automation frameworks, API test solutions, and testing best practices. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with onshore and offshore QA teams, developers, product owners, and key stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions. In this role, you will lead the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Playwright automation framework. Review and approve automation scripts, test cases, and defect reports to ensure quality and adherence to standards. Build and maintain API automation suites for business-critical services using industry best practices. Coordinate daily activities for the offshore QA team, monitor progress, and proactively remove delivery roadblocks. Drive functional testing activities, including test planning, execution, defect management, and release validation. Integrate and optimize automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines to support efficient delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve testing strategies, quality processes, and release outcomes. Leverage Agentic AI capabilities to improve testing efficiency and demonstrate measurable quality and productivity gains.
What You Need To Have To Be Considered
- 6+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, including both functional and automation testing.
- Proven experience building and maintaining automation frameworks using Playwright with JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Python.
- Strong hands-on experience in functional testing, including test case design, execution, defect management, and UAT support.
- Experience developing and maintaining API automation suites using Rest Assured (Java).
- Hands-on experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Experience leading or coordinating testing efforts across offshore and onshore delivery teams.
- Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and defect tracking tools, including Azure DevOps.
- Proven experience implementing and utilizing Agentic AI solutions within software testing or quality engineering environments.
- Experience leading distributed QA teams in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of test automation strategy, governance, and quality metrics.
- Ability to identify automation opportunities that improve delivery speed, coverage, and reliability.
- Experience measuring and showcasing efficiency gains and cost savings achieved through AI-driven initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and mentoring skills.

Salary And Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
