About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ShiftKey Engineering Team Lead to join our remote team based in the United States. In this leadership role, you will oversee the modernization of our core scheduling platform, guiding architectural decisions, setting best practices, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality Python-driven services. You will work closely with a talented team of senior engineers across multiple products and tech stacks, including Python and .NET, to build a resilient, scalable, and AI-accelerated software ecosystem. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our platform at a pivotal moment, focusing on pragmatic, high-impact software investments. You will play a key role in driving the adoption of AI tools such as Claude Code and multi-agent systems, integrating these innovations into our development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, low-ego environment and possess a strong technical background, strategic judgment, and a passion for mentoring teams. This is a fully remote role, requiring excellent asynchronous communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with team members across different time zones. Qualifications

• Deep, production-grade experience with Python 3.10+ and a strong understanding of Python best practices
• Meaningful exposure to .NET technologies and the ability to contribute across a mixed-stack environment
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development workflows, including LLM tooling, multi-agent systems, or similar technologies
• Proven senior engineering judgment, including good instincts, constructive disagreement, and proactive initiative
• Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams, setting standards, and guiding architectural decisions
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work asynchronously across different time zones
• Commitment to collaboration, diversity, and fostering an inclusive team culture

Responsibilities

• Lead backend development efforts for the core scheduling platform modernization, establishing Python best practices and guiding architecture decisions
• Own the quality and stability of Python-driven services, ensuring they meet performance and reliability standards
• Contribute to a multi-product ecosystem, including Engage, Auth, Messaging, and Time, across Python and .NET stacks
• Develop, review, and ship APIs and services, maintaining high standards of code quality and documentation
• Drive the team's evolution toward an AI-accelerated SDLC by integrating tools like Claude Code for agent orchestration, debugging, and testing
• Mentor team members, foster a collaborative environment, and promote best practices in software development
• Participate in strategic planning, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team
