About the role

CAMS Renewable Services LLC is seeking an experienced O&M Technician to manage and maintain Balance of Plant (BOP) electrical systems and grid-scale PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites. The role involves preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and electrical repairs. The technician will be based near Killeen, TX, managing both PV and BESS sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with company safety policy.
  • Manage preventative and corrective maintenance of PV and BESS systems and components.
  • Utilize the CAMS work order system for all maintenance activities.
  • Replace/install hardware, inverters, monitoring equipment, and other components.
  • Perform electrical testing using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and procedures.
  • Prepare reports as needed to comply with O&M contract deliverables.
  • Avoid all areas of preventative and corrective maintenance as directed by supervisor.
  • Attend training sessions on equipment provided by the manufacturer and approved by the manager.
  • Use equipment and resources in accordance with company instructions.
  • Maintain adherence to company policies, quality, environmental health and safety policies, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Carry out any other tasks delegated by the company.

Requirements

  • Technical & Electrical Skills: Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical schematics, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations. Minimum of three years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PV and BESS systems. NFPA 70e, Substation Level I & II, and First Aid/CPR certifications; ability to obtain Thermal Image certification within 12 months. Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong organizational, communication, analytical, planning, time-management, and customer-service skills. Ability to hire, train, and retain site staff. Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, self-discipline, and high integrity.
  • Physical & Environmental Requirements: Ability to lift 30 pounds, climb/descend stairs and ladders, and stoop when servicing equipment. Must work outdoors, including in extreme weather conditions, move safely over uneven terrain or confined spaces, and wear required PPE. Valid Texas Electrician’s License.
  • Scheduling & Availability: Must be flexible to work weekends and remain available for on-call support. Must respond to emergency call-outs as scheduled.

Desirable Skills

  • Licensed Master Electrician
  • Experience with maintenance on Solar PV systems; panels, trackers, inverters
  • Valid certificates of training from Solar (PV), Battery Storage Systems (BSS) and Power Conversion Systems (PCS) manufacturers
  • Ability to perform the commissioning of equipment depending on the degree of maintenance needed
  • Valid certificates of training for HV/MV switching and substation work
  • Experience with remote monitoring systems (Fractal, Indi or other vendors)
