About the role
The Purification Scientist Group Leader position is responsible for leading a team, conducting performance reviews, managing training records, interviewing candidates, and supporting succession planning. They ensure adherence to the highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations, foster a positive team atmosphere, and execute various laboratory tasks including automated purifications, protein solution characterization, and general lab maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Lead team, schedule, and train employees in client environment
- Conduct performance reviews, manage training records, interview candidates, and support succession planning
- Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations
- Foster morale and teamwork
- Execution of discovery stage automated purifications using a variety of chromatographic techniques, tangential flow filtration (TFF) and AKTA system
- Characterization of protein solutions using Agilent HPLC, SDS-Page
- Responsible for timely delivery & documentation of assay data and provide support for authoring study reports
- General Lab tasks will include: maintaining inventories, preparing solutions and buffer-based protein purification, AKTA system cleaning and cleaning in place, performing routine analytical measurements (pH, UV-Vis, HPLC), maintaining an electronic lab notebook
Requirements

- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep timely and accurate records, follow instructions, ability to identify and implement operational and organizational improvements, and comply with company policies and GLP processes, while delivering the highest standard of quality data
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)
- Experience with protein solutions and protein chromatography analytical characterization
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
