We’re looking for a passionate and curious Associate Scientist to join our downstream process design team. You will develop purification processes for low-cost mammalian-derived antibody biotherapeutic manufacturing in a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary environment. This role offers exposure to innovative technologies such as high-throughput automated robotic screening and continuous processing for a first-of-its-kind flexible and reconfigurable manufacturing facility. You’ll drive impactful projects, collaborate with bright minds, and explore uncharted territories while fueling both personal growth and team success.

Responsibilities

  • Dive deep into purification process development for biotherapeutics, always looking for ways to improve and innovate.
  • Accurately and consistently record laboratory work in electronic lab notebooks and paper batch records.
  • Compound purification buffers and solutions, assemble and pack chromatography column hardware.
  • Operate AKTA Avant & Pure systems using Unicorn software, Pendotech PMAT and four-channel NFF automated data collection systems, Repligen automated TFF systems, and glass washers.
  • Analyze analytical results from chromatography operations, organize and present data, and write reports.
  • Support the transfer of processes to manufacturing facilities.
  • Contribute to technology development to expand platform capabilities, reduce cost, and improve purification efficiency.
  • Regularly share findings, ideas, and solutions in team settings and presentations.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Knowledgeable in mammalian-derived downstream purification development, resin modalities (affinity, IEX, MM, HIC), chromatography purification theory, and buffer compounding.
  • Understanding of normal and tangential flow filtration theory and operation for depth filtration and UF/DF.
  • Experience executing laboratory-scale viral filtration and single-pass TFF operations.
  • Excellent experimental design and analysis skills, ideally including manipulation and presentation using JMP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to share complex ideas in a simple, relatable way.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative, owns projects, and actively seeks new challenges.
