Purchasing Supervisor (Industrial Solutions)

About the role

This position will be based at the BorgWarner Arden facility in Western North Carolina and will transition to a new facility in Hendersonville, NC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, develop and supervise a team of buyers and purchasing staff
  • Train, assign, and delegate responsibilities/projects
  • Follow up on performance progress, audit work, and provide feedback to each team member
  • Manage sourcing of materials and components to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Track and control bill of materials (BOM) costs, especially during product launches
  • Ensure on-time delivery and supplier capacity to support production schedules
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, etc.)
  • Generate reports, action plans, and updates for leadership
  • Oversee supplier performance, tooling, and launch readiness activities
  • Support smooth transition from product launch to full production
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, audits, and company procedures
  • Promote safe work practices and resolve safety issues
  • Maintain organized work areas and proper material handling
  • Step in to support purchasing activities as needed and perform other assigned duties

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of purchasing or program/project management experience working in an industrial production purchasing environment with preference for globally supported environment
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management/Engineering/Business Management or equivalent specialty required
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) a plus
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Project Management or Program Management skills
  • Team Leader, Critical Analysis, and excellent Negotiation Skills
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, eRFQ, Web based tracking software, and ERP systems knowledge a plus
  • Must be self-motivated/directed. Requires minimal management input to achieve objectives
