About the role
The Essity Global Procurement Group is seeking a Procurement (Purchasing) Manager for the Central Region, which includes two manufacturing plants in Middletown (OH) and Harrodsburg (KY). This position is based in Harrodsburg.
Responsibilities
- Maintain organized records of commodities, agreements, vendors, and their performance, and primary stakeholders at each Essity site.
- Execute purchasing processes and systems for the assigned region and site's procurement personnel.
- Ensure operational effectiveness, apply business procurement laws, and maintain appropriate internal controls for processes like requisitioning, vendor negotiations, bidding, PO/commitments, receiving PO exceptions, and Accounts Payable PO exceptions.
- Lead, train, and optimize procurement personnel at the assigned region's sites.
- Collaborate effectively with Regional/Site Operations, Corporate Procurement, and Regional Finance to implement and oversee procurement processes.
- Create and lead cross-functional teams as a regular part of this position function.
- Drive cost savings and budget management for procured materials, services, and equipment.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies at the regional and site levels, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies.
- Manage vendor relationships, review vendor proposals, and participate in vendor performance reviews.
- Lead the implementation of the Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality/Food Safety System (QRESH) policies and procedures.
- Show leadership in preventing pollution, complying with legal requirements, and continuously improving environmental performance.
- Lead the implementation of the SAP procurement business system for the region/site(s).
- Perform other essential responsibilities as necessary.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minimum of five to seven years of directly related work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in Purchasing, Contract Administration, Planning with vendor interface, or Marketing.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a similar role.
- Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, collaboration, project management, financial systems understanding, customer focus, improvement orientation, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills.
- Knowledge of procurement market, pricing, usage, and contracting for assigned commodity groups.
- Strong knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
- Strong knowledge of SAP ERP, SAP ARIBA, SAP BW, and Power BI.
- Strong financial acumen.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
- At least five to seven years of directly related work experience in Purchasing, Contract Administration, Planning with vendor interface, or Marketing.
- Proven leadership experience in a similar role.

- Strong knowledge of procurement market, pricing, usage, and contracting for assigned commodity groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.

Pay
Expected compensation: Competitive annual salary + annual incentive bonus + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors such as knowledge, skills, and experience.
