Purchasing Manager
What You'll Do
Lead and manage day-to-day purchasing operations, including sourcing, negotiation, purchase order issuance, and supplier performance management for materials supporting energetic components, detonator systems, and CAD/PAD production.
Develop and execute category strategies for key spend areas including energetic materials, electronic components, metals, and specialty chemicals, balancing cost, quality, and supply continuity objectives.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable federal regulations, including FAR/DFARS, ITAR, and company-specific quality and safety requirements.
Manage and mentor a team of buyers and purchasing staff, setting performance expectations, providing coaching, and supporting professional development.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Finance to align procurement activities with production schedules and new product development timelines.
Identify, qualify, and develop supplier relationships that support Riverbend's growth objectives, with particular attention to domestic sourcing requirements and supply chain risk mitigation.
Lead supplier negotiations to achieve optimal pricing, lead times, and contractual terms while maintaining long-term partnership integrity.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing function, including implementation of purchasing systems, process standardization, and spend analytics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 7 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
- Demonstrated experience purchasing within a defense, aerospace, or highly regulated manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations and ITAR compliance requirements as they apply to procurement
- Proven track record of supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost reduction initiatives
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or equivalent professional certification
- Experience procuring energetic materials, pyrotechnic components, or other hazardous/regulated materials
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality management system requirements in a manufacturing context
- Experience supporting DCSA audits or other government oversight activities related to procurement
- Knowledge of small business subcontracting requirements under federal contracts
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance
