About the role
In this vital role, you’ll manage the clerical and administrative heartbeat of the purchasing department, including support for the maintenance team. You’ll be the go-to person for processing requisitions, creating and distributing purchase orders, and maintaining a detailed tracking system that keeps everything organized and on schedule. Plus, you’ll build strong relationships with vendors by managing communications and ensuring orders move seamlessly from request to delivery.
Responsibilities
- Take charge of inventory control by running accurate reports and ensuring essential paper supplies are always in stock—keeping the operation smooth and uninterrupted.
- Manage Plant Purchase Orders by opening and entering them promptly to support the receiving and billing teams, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Partner with vendors to resolve order issues, whether it’s fixing pricing errors, verifying invoices, tracking deliveries, or securing proof of delivery—your follow-up keeps everything on track.
- Dive into new and special projects assigned by your manager, bringing your problem-solving skills and initiative to help improve processes and drive results.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.
- APICS Certification is preferred.
- Excellent written communications skills.
- Knowledge of UNIX application (SAP), the Internet and Microsoft Office software, e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Skills
- Experience in purchasing/parts room inventory/vendor relations, preferred.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
