About The Job

The Purchasing Assistant helps maintain supply inventory levels and purchasing records, working with vendors to resolve order issues. They learn and apply company purchasing policies and procedures, manage inventory levels, conduct price comparisons, and coordinate product transfers and purchases.

What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Receives orders from locations and sources products.
  • Evaluates product inventories and compares them to sales history.
  • Determines whether products should be transferred internally or purchased externally.
  • Collaborates with locations, vendors, and trucking companies to coordinate product transfers and purchases.
  • Plays an active role in placing orders and selecting vendor brands.
  • Maintains and reconciles purchase requests, invoices, purchase orders, receiving reports, and credit memos.
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Fulfills other work-related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of related work experience is required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Oracle, Discoverer, or Agvance Systems is preferred.
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, are required.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a busy environment is necessary.
  • Ability to communicate in English is required. Spanish proficiency is valued.
  • Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB

  • The work environment is a typical office setting with mostly quiet noise levels.
  • The position involves using hands for various tasks, talking, hearing, walking, standing, and sitting.
  • Occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds may be required.
