Purchasing and Warehouse Supervisor - Sheriff's Department

About the Role

The Purchasing and Warehouse Supervisor organizes, supervises, and coordinates the purchasing, procurement, warehousing, and issue of supplies, equipment, and related services for a Department or major functional area within a Department. This role specializes in the assigned Department's general and specialized supplies, equipment, and services, and includes supervision of warehousing operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and supervises the functions involved in the purchase, requisition, receipt, storage, issuance, delivery, and disposal of supplies and equipment specific to the assigned Department.
• Supervises, trains, and evaluates employees.
• Prepares, reviews, and executes purchase requisitions, bid specifications, and related materials for conformance to good buying practices and pertinent Departmental, County, State, and Federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinates the emergency loan or procurement of vital supplies and equipment.
• Develops, recommends, implements, and enforces purchasing, procurement, warehousing, issue, receipt, and disposal policies for supplies, equipment, and services.
• Participates in preparing and monitoring unit, division, and Departmental budgets.
• Coordinates or recommends changes to stock levels, types, quantities, and quality of supplies and equipment required for Department operations.
• Prepares or ensures timely preparation of manual, automated, and computer-based records, reports, inventory tracking, analyses, and related documentation.
• Conducts or attends bid openings to provide additional information regarding specified supplies, equipment, and services, and prepares/executes bid award documents for the Board of Supervisors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in purchasing, materials management, public administration, or a related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND three years of experience in purchasing, procurement, warehousing, receipt, and issue of supplies and equipment. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
• OR three years with Pima County in a Buyer series or related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment, INCLUDING one year of warehousing supervisory experience.
• Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid Arizona driver license is required at time of appointment.
• Successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine suitability to operate county vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum three years of first-line supervisory experience.
• Minimum three years of experience with Pima County procurement processes.
• Experience with the Workday Financial Management System and/or held the security role of Cost Center Manager.
• Minimum three years of experience tracking and managing fixed assets and capital assets.
• Current commission as a Notary Public by the State of Arizona.
• Completion of at least 40 hours of continuing education or training in Public Sector Management.

Pay

Hiring Range: $56,555 - $67,870 Annually
Pay Range: $56,555 - $79,164 Annually

The actual salary offer will consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

• Hearing Activity: In-person and phone communication.
• Vision: May be required to operate a motor vehicle, machinery, forklift/power industrial equipment; distinguish colors; have depth perception and peripheral vision.
