Purchasing and Receiving Clerk - InterContinental Indianapolis
About the role
This position is responsible for overseeing all storeroom inventory and operations.
Responsibilities
- Check shipment by comparing it with purchase order and/or invoice to insure what is being received is what was ordered (quantity, price, quality, state, size, count, weight tolerance and acceptable expiration date and received at the proper temperature).
- Work in conjunction with Director of Food and Beverage, Executive Chef and Director of Finance to ensure appropriate handling, transport, and documentation of all food ordering and receiving between departments.
- Work in conjunction with the Front Desk Team to ensure appropriate handling and transport of packages received for hotel departments.
- To follow/adhere to established standard operating procedures and local health regulations.
- Document discrepancy and notify supervisor immediately of shortage.
- Help to set up local vendors and products and communicate items that need to be used.
- Aids in placing orders or any other reasonable task assigned.
- Receives orders and rotates stock when putting the orders away. All incoming products need to be rotated and dated to ensure the products are rotated properly to avoid spoilage.
- Assist in conducting End-Of-Month Physical Inventory.
- Ensure all storage areas and walk-in coolers are clean and organized at all times
- Ensure service and receiving landing are clean and organized
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Expectations
- Minimum formal education of a high school diploma, or GED.
- A minimum of one year of job-related experience in purchasing/inventory control/warehouse experience.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of safety standards and proper storage procedures
- Ability to carry, pull, and lift up to 50lbs regularly and occasionally up to 75lbs with assistance
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods

Pay
The hourly pay rate for this role is $22. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
Schedule
No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until it is earned, vested, and determinable.
