Responsibilities

• Manage assigned commodities, communicating component requirements to potential supply sources while ensuring strict conformance to Konecranes product specifications and quality program.
• Collaborate with internal and external functional groups to meet timelines, cost structures, contractual obligations, and manufacturing/engineering needs.
• Source and negotiate the most favorable overall “value” and lead-time without compromising quality or customer requirements.
• Conduct thorough reviews and comparisons of major quoting activity to project and sales estimates to ensure margins and impacts are realized and communicated appropriately.
• Maintain system integrity by performing continuous updates at the part number, supplier, and Purchasing Agent levels to ensure accurate information for all users.
• Review open purchase requisitions daily and source materials from suppliers with the required capabilities, capacity, and quality programs for a demanding market.
• Obtain quotes for other functional groups such as Design Engineering, Application Engineering, and Service Group as needed.
• Address system-generated material exceptions by expediting, delaying, or canceling on-order materials and communicating results to the necessary groups or individuals.
• Write and document work instructions for the ERP system (SAP) and general workflows to support continuous improvement.
• Meet all annual goals and objectives assigned by the Purchasing Manager, with ongoing communication throughout the year; adjust goals as necessary.

Requirements

• 5 years of working experience within a Procurement role, including commodity-based buying and one-off quantities.
• Associate’s or higher college degree preferred but not required.
• Ability to read engineering drawings/blueprints is required.
• Knowledge and understanding of heavy steel and associated processes, including welding and machining.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline strongly preferred.
• Experience: One to three years of Purchasing-related experience required.
• Other Requirements:
  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems is required.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and comfort navigating multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to read blueprints is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team-structured, fast-paced, and multitasking environment is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated with the ability to prioritize work.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
